Basement Remodel

When we entered the basement of this 100-year-old home, we found a chopped-up area with an assortment of rooms used for storage and even a canning kitchen. The owners asked us to transform the space into an entertainment room. The basement was gutted and remodeled, incorporating authentic trim detail and double columns found elsewhere in the house to retain the home’s traditional elements. The coffered ceiling served both a decorative and practical purpose – helping secure loads from above that were failing. Inspired by a few vintage spots of brick that were revealed when the basement’s paneling was removed and tasked with incorporating a hint of industrial style, a brick wall was installed near the shuffleboard table.
