Windy Bay Residence

In the 1970s, prominent local architect R. G. Nelson designed and built this home. Fast forward 35 years and this contemporary mountain cabin was in critical need of repairs and renovation. The family made the choice to rebuild and improve functionality using more current construction materials and techniques, but keeping with the original intent and flavor of this incredibly unique and artistic design. Standout features include a master bedroom of glass walls and roof for star gazing; a cantilevered window nook where a strategically-placed hammock makes you feel as if you’re sleeping in the trees; the retention of tapered, board-form concrete walls; locally-sourced fir; and salt and pepper granite countertops.
