Edwards Smith Construction, Coeur d’Alene’s premier custom home builder, is seeking an EXPERIENCED CONSTRUCTION SUPERINTENDENT to join our team.

Our craftspeople are some of the finest around bringing their skills, efficiencies and professionalism to building one-of-a-kind homes in some of the most beautiful locations in northern Idaho.

Our concrete foundation workers and finishers build, set and align forms for various concrete structures and foundations throughout northern Idaho, including, but not limited to Coeur d’Alene, Hayden, Post Falls and Rathdrum. They are also involved in placing wire mesh, occasionally preparing, placing and pouring appropriate sand and cement mixtures and rough leveling of concrete. They bend, form, tie and install rebar. They spread, level and smooth concrete using rakes, shovels and trowels. They apply fine concrete finishes by floating, troweling, edging and brushing according to plan specifications. Since most of the work is outdoors, they are able to withstand extreme weather conditions. Depending on level of proficiency, they may be responsible for interpreting blueprints and reading survey stakes to establish grade and estimating volume of concrete required for specific jobs.

Ideal candidate is well-versed in the standard methods, materials, tools and equipment used in concrete construction and maintenance; understands the occupational hazards applicable to the work and adheres to OSHA and Edwards Smith Construction safety requirements; is able to understand and follow oral and written instructions; is able to read blueprints and make simple calculations in order to read survey stakes and calculate areas and volumes; and is skilled in the use and care of hand and small power tools associated with the work.

Framing and siding carpenters precisely measure, cut and assemble the framing lumber needed to build residential and commercial buildings. Our carpenters work throughout northern Idaho, including Coeur d’Alene and the surrounding area. They construct what becomes the framework for the rest of the building and may be involved in other components needed throughout the job. Blueprints typically guide framing and siding carpenters in constructing the project.

Ideal candidate is well-versed in the standard methods, materials, tools and equipment used in framing and siding; understands the occupational hazards applicable to the work and adheres to OSHA and Edwards Smith Construction safety requirements; is able to understand and follow oral and written instructions; is committed to clean and tight framing where plumb and level is within 1/8-inch; is expected to construct exterior components as accurately and cleanly as interior trim carpentry; is able to read and interpret blueprints; is able to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 100 pounds), such as framing lumber, sheets of plywood and other building materials; is able to bend and swing a hammer 70 percent of the time; is comfortable with heights; is able to withstand extreme weather conditions; understands math functions and calculations involving fractions; is able to read tape and speed square; and is skilled in the use and care of hand and small power tools associated with the work.

Trim carpenters, also known as finish carpenters, install and repair casing, baseboard and crown moulding, in addition to hanging doors and handling stair work. The position is physically demanding, requiring trim carpenters to bend, kneel, lift, carry, climb and stand for long periods of time. Some finish work is outdoors requiring trim carpenters to perform under all types of weather conditions. Our job sites are located throughout northern Idaho.

Ideal candidate is well-versed in the standard methods, materials, tools and equipment used in trim carpentry; understands the occupational hazards applicable to the work and adheres to OSHA and Edwards Smith Construction safety requirements; is able to understand and follow oral and written instructions; is able to read and interpret blueprints; is able to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 100 pounds), such a framing lumber, sheets of plywood and other building materials; is comfortable with heights; understands math functions and calculations involving fractions; is able to read tape and framing square; and is skilled in the use and care of hand and small power tools associated with the work.
